Frequently asked questions
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a dynamic, low-impact, full-body workout performed on a machine called a Reformer. Using springs, pulleys and a sliding carriage for resistance and support, it enhances traditional mat Pilates by targeting the deeper stabilising muscles.
Through slow, controlled movements, Reformer Pilates improves strength, posture, flexibility and core stability, helping you feel stronger, more aligned and more connected to your body.
Is Reformer Pilates suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. At Studio Etta, we welcome complete beginners. We offer a dedicated Foundation class, designed specifically for those new to Reformer Pilates or anyone who prefers a slower-paced session focused on technique and confidence building. You don't need any prior experience in Mat or Reformer Pilates.
Is Reformer Pilates safe during pregnancy?
Yes, Reformer Pilates can be safe and beneficial during pregnancy.
Please let your instructor know before class so we can provide appropriate modifications and ensure you’re exercising safely and comfortably.
If you have any medical concerns, we always recommend checking with your doctor first.
How do I book a class?
All classes can be booked through the schedule on our website.
We use Mindbody for secure booking and checkout, making it simple to reserve and manage your classes.
Due to limited spaces, we strongly recommend booking in advance.
Is there parking available?
Yes there is a large car park, Whalley Hayes Car Park, just a 1 minute walk from Studio Etta.
You’ll also find 15 free parking spaces directly outside Whalley Hayes Car Park on Westminster Road, available for up to two hours.
How many people are in each class?
We keep our classes small with just 6 people per session.
This allows for personalised guidance, hands-on corrections and a calm, focused studio environment.
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive 5–10 minutes before class to get settled.
If it’s your first visit, allow 10 minutes before class so we can introduce you to the reformer and ensure you feel confident using the equipment.
Do I need grip socks?
Yes, grip socks are required for all classes for your saftey.
If you don’t have a pair, we sell grip socks in the studio, so you’re always covered.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because we have only six beds at Studio Etta, we do operate a 12-hour cancellation policy. This allows clients on the waitlist the opportunity to take your place.
Cancellations made within 12 hours of class will result in the loss of your credit. No-shows will not receive a refund or credit back.
